Monoprint BOA

During my study abroad in Florence, Italy, I took a serigraphy (screen printing) course which taught multiple techniques for printing. This series of prints was made through monoprinting - a process of painting directly onto the screen, pushing it through onto the substrate, and then using the residual paint to print more creating a "ghost" effect. I pulled lots of inspiration from my time traveling around Italy by train and thinking about the times where they would be covered with full-color pieces across each train cart; I loved seeing the amount of graffiti on the trains and station walls because it showcased just how global of a culture graffiti has become as no matter where I am geographically, great spots will always be great spots.
