Tessellating Tile 1

Part of a repetition project I had for class, this series of ceramic tiles stamped with the tessellating pattern cleverly works in the letters YKTFV. Sticking true to the goal of uniqueness in each artwork, I applied different glaze combinations to get various textures and colors.

This tile was particularly fun due to the two variants of the stamped logo (lines recessed/raised), the fiery underglaze gradient, and the layering of low-fire glazes for texture. I’d say my favorite detail is the subtle white scales from the crawl glaze since it adds something for the viewer to scan for across the piece.
